Role:
- Responsible for keeping the pipeline of business coming in every day.
- Keeps focused on daily, and 60-day objectives and prioritizes.
- Prospects daily – sets time aside a block at a time each day for phone calls.
- Enters quotes, customers, and product information on the CRM system weekly.
- Targets at least five “Elephant” accounts (large accounts with continuous re-order potential).
- Ensures that proposals have term and conditions that act as a sales contract.
- Ensures that all proposals and proposal drawings are signed by the customer at time of order.
- Follows-up on all proposals and potential customers in a timely fashion.
- Stays in touch with existing customers and calls them with new important information.
- Strive to create long term repeat customers.
- Able to write dynamic sales introduction letters.
- Organized: Maintains quote and sales logs updated and available for review.
- Has a list of excellent customers for referrals.
- Solicits and maintains a list of testimonials.
- Proactively plans individual and team marketing strategies for their vertical markets including e-blasts, databases, flyers, brochures. Writes own ads, newsletters, mailers, etc.
- Searches out and establishes new vertical market opportunities.
- Understands the art of negotiation and sale.
- Keeps accurate records of sales calls.
- Understands that our business is here to “create more revenues and better organized facilities for our customer”. Our commodity is storage and material handling products.

Role:
- Uses the project checklist to be sure all items are covered.
- Understands all design aspects of rack systems.

Completely understands specifications for rack layouts and elevations.
-> Able to teach others the specifications.
-> Understands communication expectations with customer. -
Understands how to conduct site surveys.
-> Has reviewed the checklist of things to be measured.
-> Knows how to use a Disto laser and tap measure.
-> Takes accurate dimensions.
-> Conducts site surveys before and after projects are completed (for "As-Built drawings). -
Understands how to order all products in an integrated system from all our vendors.
-> Placing purchase orders.
-> Working out terms and conditions.
-> Scheduling for delivery (and/or completion in the case of installers). Racks arrive first, then decks, etc.
-> Checking acknowledgements.
-> Part numbers, quantities, and delivery confirmation.
-> Follow up with vendors prior to project starting. -
Understands fire code requirements.
-> Exiting and stairway triangle analysis.
-> Knows the various fire consultants we use. - Understands how to get information from the local fire and life safety reviewers at the local municipalities.
- Understands who to talk with at local fire sprinkler contracting companies (Allan Automatic, Grinnell, etc).

Understands the building code requirements.
-> Has a basic understanding of the building codes and/or where to find info in the IBC or CBC code book.
-> Understands the basic permitting process and time constraints.
-> Understands how to obtain permits, or hire a permit service.
-> Where to get application and how to fill it out.
-> Permit services-- do they have the list of companies who do all the processing. -
Understands structural requirements for racks.
-> Knows the structural engineers we work with (Seizmic, Kirby, SCE, etc).
-> Knows the balance of designing safe systems and cost-effective systems. -
Understands the integration of other major systems components and suppliers.
-> Electrical contractors.
-> Sprinkler contractors.
-> General contractors.
-> Lift truck equipment. -
Understands roles of our suppliers.
-> Who are all our suppliers-- database.
-> How they fit in and when to utilize them.
-> Discounts.
-> Reservations at the plants.
-> Specials, vendor capabilities.
-> QC reports.
-> Complaints.
-> Plant back-charges. -
Understands all aspects of ordering VRCs.
-> Size and capacity.
-> Locations of lift and obstruction check.
-> Pit design and cutting.
-> Safety cage design and integration with racks.
-> Mechanical design and installation.
-> Manufacturer sign-off.
-> Electrical design, pushbutton and panel inspection location.
